Peter van Niekerk
Favourite Verse: The Bible!
Peter van Niekerk was born-again in 1973 when he had a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ in a local cinema. In those early years he was involved in YWAM before they moved their base to South Africa. From 1976 to 1979 Peter and his family lived in Scotland, where he studied at the Bible Training Institute in Glasgow and graduated with a degree in Theology.
In 1979 Peter and his family returned to South Africa and established a church in the city of Durban, while teaching concurrently for a period of 3 years in two bible colleges. When a Christian radio programme started, his teaching ministry was made use of. In 1983 he joined together with one of the graduated bible students who had started a fledgling church, which has become his home base in the city of Durban - Westville Christian Fellowship.
For a period of 8 years Peter worked with an apostolic team based in the United Kingdom who commissioned him to work in a South African apostolic team.
Peter continues to be a local and international conference speaker, speaking mainly in Africa, Europe and the USA. Presently, he is the lead elder of Westville Christian Fellowship and works with a number of local churches in South Africa. Peter is increasingly called upon to travel locally as well as internationally to oversee relating churches and to fulfil an apostolic function under the banner of Simunye Apostolic Ministries.
Peter is married to Yvonne, and has 3 daughters, Natasha, Charene and Carmel.
