Worship Cell

Towards the end of 2009, the worship teams amalgamated into a worship cell to create a weekly time to seek and worship God together. We meet on Thursdays at 6:30pm for supper and then spend time worshipping, praying and practicing together.

The cell is a vibrant multicultural mix of youth and older generations, and provides a place where we can find common ground and work out our calling of leading worship in unity and relationship. Many times I look around the room and realise what a special place WCF is - I believe Peter's word about justice and righteousness, about the Revelations 5 "Simunye" throng around the throne, that came through in the 1980s is being fulfilled before our eyes. We have had amazing times of worship together with new songs, prophetic words and relevant times of personal prayer happening on a regular basis. One of the central themes that has come through is our hunger and desire to see the supernatural break out as we worship - as a cell and as a body. We are continuing to believe for the multiple fulfillments of healing and other promises that 2010 has been prophesied to be. We want our times of worship to be saturated with His presence, for the cloud of His glory to descend and for us to worship face to face with Him.

Psalm 90:1 (Message version) says “God it seems You’ve been our home forever, long before the mountains were born”. This is a verse that I always come back to. We were created to fellowship and commune with God, as Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden. He is our home and we are His, and this divine exchange is what worship and Christianity are all about.
His presence is not something we have to work hard to find - it is our home, it is where we find our identity and our purpose, it is where we are meant to live. Being aware of His presence and living in this reality is what it means to live a lifestyle of worship... “... in Him we live and move and have our being...” This is an exciting journey - one where (and David put it best when he said) “our lives are a road [He] travels” (Psalm 84 Message).

One “downfall” of being involved in worship teams is that we often see people from a distance (i.e. the stage) and don’t get to meet or talk to them on a Sunday because we have other commitments. This is one of the reasons we would love to have the opportunity to combine with other cells on a Thursday night for worship and fellowship - so cell leaders, let us know when we can get together!

Love,

Lindy

E44 - Youth News

February has been an exciting month for the youth, but I'll start off with a special thanks to all the members off our church. The church members gave such generous donations towards our fundraising days. We really appreciate the manner in which you all gave and we thank you for seeing the humorous side to it all! The funds are being raised for our much needed youth camp on the 26th-28th March.
The youth will be going to Sweetdale for quality bonding time and great activities. Parents please ensure you collect an indemnity form that will be given to your children at youth on the 5th of March or collect one at the church office on the 7th.
We would also like to say welcome to Simon and Julia. Simon is with us from the United States. He brings his unique style and will be great to help spice things up with the youth. So we look forward to his input and a great year ahead! Julia is with us from Germany. She is here as Martin & Cheryl Engel's au pair, but is hoping to improve her English and learn all about South African culture.

Friday night meetings have been dedicated to worship! We took the youth 'back to basics' and got them thinking about the importance of worship again. The basics were covered well and we got to see the youth get into that place of intimacy with God.
Look out for the passion on Sunday mornings!!
