Michael van der Meulen
High School / Army and University (1986-1994):I have been at WCF since 1984, when I gave my life to Jesus Christ in Standard 8 at a WCF youth meeting held in the Coombe's garage - 6 Circle Drive. In 1985-1987 I was part of the youth leadership team and in 1986 was the SCA Chairperson in Westville Boys' High School.
After school (1987) I worked for my parents at Florida Motors, after which (1988-1989) I spent two years doing National Service. During my time as a National Service I achieved the rank of 2LT and was a Training Officer at 5 Signal Regiment based at Wonderboom and Walmanstal outside Pretoria.
After completing my National Service I began studying at the University of Natal, completing my Bachelor of Social-Science Degree in 1992 (1990-1992). I married Lindy in December 1992 – That was a great idea. During 1993 and 1994 I did my Masters in Town & Regional Planning and graduated at the end of 1994. During my time at University I remained active in church life and was a Home Cell Leader and also participated in Chesterville Church Meetings.
Career (1995-March 2000)My so called working career spanned 1995 to April 2000 where I practiced as a Project Manager, being invloved in a number of diverse project scenarios. During this time I also completed a Diploma in Project Management. In early 2000 I was invited to join the staff on WCF, and did so on the 1st April 2000.
WCF (1 April 2000 to present)I have been part of the WCF staff since 1st April 2000. My current office responsibilities include the general administrative and project responsibilities of W.C.F and S.A.M. I am also involved in cell leadership, from time to time have some preaching and/or teaching responsibilities, and join SWAT Team Trips when available to. As a Save-a-Child committee member I also have some defined responsibilities.
General:I have two children, a son James Michael (Age 7) and a daughter Joelle Lindiwe (Age 2). I love the Lord with all my heart and desire to see His Kingdom Come in its fullness, the Church – Bride of Christ come to maturity and purity, and see the manifest presence of God break out in people’s individual lives, the church corporately and overflow into society.
