Lindy van der Meulen

Favourite verse: Psalm 27:4 "One thing I have desired of the Lord, That I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple."

I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home and gave my life to Jesus at the age of 5.

History in the Church:
I have been at Westville Christian Fellowship since its inception when I was in Standard 6. Back then I was in the worship team playing guitar with Dave James as leader. I also led worship in the youth on Friday nights and at SCA at school .
After school (1988) I was on the Go Team together with 7 other young people for a year. This is a great memory for me and was an important year as a lot of biblical knowledge and foundational teaching was instilled in my life.

Another great memory is being part of The Remnant, a Christian rock band, from 1988-1992.

Throughout the last 22 years I have been a member of the WCF worship team and have been heading up the worship ministry at WCF for the last 12 years (not quite sure of the dates here). I was priveleged to head up the worship at Simunye 2000.

I have a passion for worship and for really learning to live in God's presence on a daily basis. This passion extends to bringing others into God's presence through worship and to equip others in the worship ministry. Song writing is also a strong motivating force in my life. I long to write songs that express God's heart and invoke His presence. I also love working with choirs, and more recently with children in music.

Studies:
Studied music and education for 9 years through University of Natal and UNISA. Have a Masters degree in Music and a teaching diploma.

Teaching Career:
Taught Music and English at Westville Senior Primary School, Westville Girls' High, Westville Boys' High, Carrington Heights Junior Primary and at Westville Junior Primary.

Lectured part time at University of Natal 1995 - 1997

Music Critic for Daily News 1996-1997

In 2005 I have taught music at four highway primary and pre-primary schools and started working 2 mornings a week at WCF this month (August 2005) focusing on our worship ministry.

Personal:
Have been married to Mike for nearly 13 years and have 2 children. James Michael (7) and Joelle Lindiwe (nearly 2).
